Strategic Planning
During my internship with Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation, I created a Strategic Messaging Calendar for the fiscal year of 2019. I met with 6 staff from different divisions of the Parks and Recreation department, including: Hargraves Community Center, Chapel Hill Community Center, Aquatics, Adapted Recreation, Athletics, and the Teen Center (the calendar messages are color coded by division). With the help of my supervisor, I sorted their messages into four categories:
- Strategic: Internal messages that align with council goals.
- Human Interest: External messages that feature people or benefits that tell our story.
- Evergreen: External messages that remain relevant no matter the season or time of year.
- Seasonal: External messages that are regular and recurring each year at specific times.
